Why Stablecoins and Tokenized Assets Are Driving Real Onchain Value

Bitget Wallet's APAC head Will Wu made the case at Coinfest Asia 2026 that stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets now carry the strongest on-chain fundamentals in crypto.

Why Stablecoins and Tokenized Assets Are Driving Real Onchain Value

Speaking on a panel titled "How Money Actually Moves Between Narratives," Wu argued the loudest social narrative rarely tracks where persistent capital actually settles. For Web3 game studios integrating stablecoin rails or tokenized in-game economies, the claim deserves a stress test against the underlying throughput and liquidity data.

The data beneath the narrative

Figures cited at the panel place stablecoin market capitalization at approximately $300 billion, up roughly 14% year-over-year. Per RWA.xyz, distributed asset value for tokenized real-world assets has crossed $38 billion, climbing nearly 80% from just over $21 billion at the start of 2026. Wu pushed back on the framing that narrative rotations are coordinated by a small cluster of wallets. "Sophisticated funds have better tools, faster execution and deeper liquidity, so they can move before a narrative becomes obvious to the wider market," he said. His filter for durable rotation: flows, liquidity, and user activity that persist after incentives end. "Attention is cheap to manufacture but persistent capital is expensive to fake."

Architecture Web3 games should audit

Bitget Wallet is positioning for that capital layer. Its Onchain Payments Matrix connects card and QR payments, on-ramps, off-ramps, and bank transfers across more than 100 markets, while the wallet surfaces over 450 tokenized assets. The Assetback program lets card spend accrue tokenized real-world assets, merging stablecoin payment rails with onchain accumulation. Studios evaluating stablecoin treasuries or tokenized reward layers should audit three checkpoints: self-custody guarantees and key management, the depth of liquidity on the chosen stablecoin pair across the chains the game actually settles on, and the settlement latency between off-ramps and in-game payout. Bitget cites hardware-backed keys, independent audits, and a $300 million user protection fund, but those claims sit in vendor marketing, not in an independent ledger.

What to track next

The stablecoin throughput story is not isolated. Reporting this month points to AI agents as a potential next user wave settling in stablecoins — a load pattern that would further stress payment-rail capacity. Separately, browser extension threats targeting wallets have been documented, putting every self-custody claim under sharper audit. Wu's thesis that the wallet layer grows more consequential as capital moves onchain is testable. The shift to tokenized assets maps directly onto the infrastructure any Web3 game will need to plug into. The metrics worth tracking next quarter: stablecoin market cap holding above $300 billion, RWA value compounding past the $38 billion mark, and whether game-side integrations are verifiable self-custody or centralized custody dressed up as onchain.
