Beyond the Hype: Evaluating 4 Networks Poised for the Next Altseason Gaming Surge

Bitget this week published a market roundup flagging five networks — Hedera, Litecoin, Polkadot, SUI, and Stellar — as candidates for capital rotation if altseason conditions materialize in 2026.

Beyond the Hype: Evaluating 4 Networks Poised for the Next Altseason Gaming Surge

The piece itself hedges: it disclaims any claim of a market bottom or price guarantee. For a Web3 gaming audience, the operational question is which of these networks actually sits under the workloads that matter — and which are simply riding the narrative.

Where the Throughput Actually Counts

SUI is the only candidate with a direct footprint in on-chain gaming. Its object-centric data model and parallel execution engine target high transaction throughput with low latency — precisely the friction points that bottleneck Web3 games running frequent state changes, asset mints, and player-to-player trades. Capital returning to SUI would matter less for the chart than for whether game studios already deployed on it can sustain throughput under heavier load.

Polkadot's relevance is structural. Its parachain model and cross-consensus messaging (XCM) remain the most explicit attempt at interoperability between independent gaming chains, settlement layers, and identity frameworks. The open question is whether parachain occupancy and developer activity have grown enough to re-anchor the thesis. Hedera's Hashgraph offers throughput and finality advantages, but its enterprise orientation keeps it at arm's length from consumer gameplay. Litecoin and Stellar are payments rails — infrastructure, but not where game economies live.

The Stress Test Before the Rotation

The Bitget piece lists the familiar macro catalysts — AI demand, RWA tokenization, DeFi expansion, meme-driven retail flows — but skips the bottleneck metrics that determine whether any of these networks can actually absorb the capital. For each candidate, the audit is identical: active addresses, daily transaction count, developer commits, and stablecoin liquidity or TVL.

SUI's DeFi and gaming TVL is the cleanest read. Polkadot's parachain lease renewals and active crowdloans are the meaningful signal. Hedera's enterprise partnerships only translate into mainnet transaction volume once they show up on-chain. An altseason narrative is a cyclical pattern, not a protocol upgrade. The networks that hold the rotation are the ones already processing real workloads before the liquidity arrives. Everything else is a chart looking for a catalyst.
